How to Match Colours
Making sure you get the colours you expect at print time...
Although you can view and choose colors
through the colour palette in most programs, this is not the best way to choose
colours for printing. Because your monitor displays colours in RGB
(Red, Green and Blue), an on-screen colour cannot accurately represent a printed
colour. For the same reason, we cannot accurately match colours from files
such as jpeg, gif, etc. (except for vector images
with assigned Pantone spot colours).
To make sure that colours come off the
press as you expect, choose your colors from a Pantone Spot or Process
Guide. If you do not own a Pantone Colour Guide, you can call
in at our offices and look through ours. Or you
can provide us with a printed sample of the colour(s) you want to match
- we will find the closest colour in our Pantone Guide.
If you are using vector images in your spot
colour layout, you can assign spot colors through your illustration program
and save the image as an .eps for placing into
your page layout program. Make sure you match Pantone names between your
vector program and your layout program (CV, CVC or CVU) so that you dont
end up with two spot color names for the same color in your color palette.
